Our Treatments For Your Child’s Smile

Children need to undergo regular dental care just like you do! Which is why our team recommends routine checkups and cleanings, but we also have an array of other treatments too. At your helpful neighborhood dental clinic in Dallas, TX, we can offer quality pediatric dentistry for kids of all ages!

Dental Exams and Cleanings

The serious oral health issues that can plague little smiles, such as tooth decay, gingivitis, and even dental misalignment, don’t occur overnight. Which is why we recommend checkups and cleanings every six months, starting at around age two. These visits enable us to instill good oral health habits, and to watch for the earliest stages of trouble, so we can offer plans to treat the issues and preserve the smile, while also protecting your child from discomfort. We also clean the teeth, which involves removing the harmful layers of plaque and tartar to fight issues like tooth decay, gingivitis, bad breath, and teeth stains.

Cavity Prevention

Our team can also discuss options to help lower the risk of tooth decay. For example, during your child’s six-month checkup visit, we can also apply a fluoride varnish to the teeth, which helps strengthen the enamel to make the chances of a visit forming in between visits much lower. The process takes just a few seconds! We could also discuss dental sealants, which is an acrylic coating we add to the rear teeth, the molars that kids have a hard time reaching when they brush and floss. Sealants stay in place for years, and help lower the risk of tooth decay significantly.

Tooth Extraction

If a tooth is severely decayed or infected, or sustained damage that a crown cannot address, we could extract it to prevent the spread of infection. We could also remove teeth as part of orthodontic treatment, making room to reposition the smile. Removal could also be used to prevent wisdom tooth impaction, removing these additional molars in the teen years. We take steps to ensure the process is safe, gentle, and comfortable for our little patients.

Our Custom Mouthguards

We want to help protect children from damaged teeth when they play full contact sports. Which is why we offer custom mouthguards, which provide a greater level of protection than store-bought options. These can help lower the risks of a tooth being chipped, cracked, or knocked loose or out. If you have any questions about our approach to children’s dentistry, then contact our team today.
